Museum of Glass Shake, Rattle & Grill Slider Cook-off

Local restaurants will compete for the top prize at Museum of Glass ' first-ever Slider Cook-Off event on Saturday, March 3, 2012 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. The event will feature slider tastings for guests and a cook-off competition on the Hot Shop floor. Daryl & the Diptones will perform 1950s rock & roll favorites for dancing at the end of the evening.

This event is inspired by Gathering: John Miller and Friends, an exhibition featuring 25 super-sized Venetian-style goblets created by Miller with some of his colleagues. Each goblet reflects the artistic expression of the collaborating artists. The signature piece created by Miller features a giant cheeseburger in the goblet stem.

Participating restaurants include Tacoma 's Asado, Maxwell's, Bite, Social Bar & Grill, Adriatic Grill, Chambers Bay Grill and Puyallup 's HG Bistro. The Harmon Brewery will provide the local brew. Each restaurant will present its own spin on the slider—from cheeseburger to pulled pork to Italian sausage. The chefs will each have a turn grilling up their recipe on hibachis in the Hot Shop. A panel of celebrity judges, including artist John Miller, will taste each slider and choose the winner of the Best Slider Award. A People's Choice Award will also be named from votes by event guests. Winning chefs will receive a slider goblet designed by John Miller and made by the Museum's Hot Shop Team.

Tickets for the event are $35 in advance ($30 for Museum members) and $40 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Museum's admission desk or online: www.museumofglass.org/slider-cookoff. A VIP ticket is also available for $100 and includes complimentary wine, beer and a gift bag. Must be 21 or older to attend.

SPECIAL TICKET DISCOUNT: Patrons who dine at any of the participating restaurants during the month of February and bring in their receipt to the Museum admission desk can receive $5 off ticket purchases. Offer valid for advance and day-of ticket sales. Not available for online purchases. Limit one discount per ticket.
